About Caitlin

Beginnings

Caitlin grew up on the Sunshine Coast. At the age of 17, she became the youngest player to make the Senior Australian Women’s Volleyball team. Coming from a track and field background, she was introduced to volleyball at 14, and rapidly fell in love with the strong team bond, its competitive nature, and uplifting community. As a junior, she competed in World and Asian Championships in beach and indoor volleyball, and was awarded ‘Australian Junior Volleyball Athlete of the year’.

College

College

In 2016 she accepted a full scholarship to NCAA Division I Portland State University, where she was co-captain and captain of their volleyball team in consecutive years. She also earned Big Sky all-academic honours, as well as highest percentage scorer in the conference. In 2017 she transferred to San Jose State University, to pursue a dual sport scholarship of Indoor and Beach Volleyball. Caitlin was in the 1s team for beach, and captained the University’s most successful beach volleyball season to date. Caitlin graduated from San Jose State University in 2020 with a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology, majoring in human movement science.

2021 saw Caitlin's first appearance on the Australian National Tour, where she earned a Silver medal in the opening event of the season. Caitlin also competed in State open events where she took 1st place in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, earning her the Mikasa Cup Title for most successful team on the tour.

Caitlin has opened the 2022 Beach Volleyball season by claiming 4/5 Gold medals across the nation. This includes winning Gold at the Mollymook National Tour event, Gold in the Queensland, New South Wales, and South Australian Open events and Silver at the Cobram Barooga Classic National Tour event. Caitlin then went on to compete in her first International FIVB Pro Futures World Tour event in Thailand, where she earned a 4th place. Caitlin continues to train as a Developing Volleyroo at the Queensland Academy of Sport in Brisbane, as she looks to establish herself amongst the best in the nation.

In 2021, Caitlin began her Masters Degree in Physiotherapy which she is studying full time, and will complete in November 2022. Caitlin also works as a private or group coach through the Playbook Coach platform, and coaches for a local high school.

When Caitlin isn't playing volleyball, coaching or studying, you will find her at a different cafe each week, rating their coffee and playing cards. Caitlin has a blog where she invites you to "have coffee with Caitlin", as she takes you through her latest coffee rates, her thoughts, and elite athlete mindset. Her passion for coffee has led her to releasing her own coffee brand called: B.A.L.A (Believe Always, Love Always). You can find more information on her shop page.

Future

Throughout Caitlin's playing career, she has been fortunate to travel to over 20 countries, while representing Australia in both indoor and beach volleyball. These experiences have helped shaped her into the strong and confident woman she is today, and she is eager to continue this journey, while giving back to the community, mentoring others, and spreading positivity to all she meets.
